Sanitary Sewers

Overview

The borough has over 6 miles of sewer mains that are maintained by the highway department. The sanitary system works by gravity, meaning that everything runs downhill. The system is metered and flows into two different treatment systems, the Muckinipattis Authority and the Darby Creek Joint Authority. Both of these systems are collected and treated by DELCORA. A map of DELCORA’s entire system can be found here: www.delcora.org/about-us/areas-served/

Helpful Information

If you are experiencing a sewage backup during normal business hours (9:00am-4:30pm) please contact borough hall at (610) 623-1000. After hours you can call 911 and the police will be able to notify our highway department.

Flushable Wipes

Any wipes that are not toilet paper should not be flushed down the toilet. The term flushable is in reference to the fact that it will make it through your toilet, but these wipes can clog sewer laterals, sewer mains, and even the treatment facilities themselves. If you use any of these products please dispose of them in a wastebasket.
